Does my The Detroit Card expire?

Your card does NOT expire. However, after 12 consecutive months of inactivity, a $3.00 monthly fee will be deducted from your card balance. To avoid this fee, simply use your card at least once every 12 months. Any purchase counts as activity, no matter how small!

What fees are associated with my card?

Accepted Answer

When purchasing, there's a $1.00 + 5% eDelivery fee. For card usage, a $3.00 monthly inactivity fee applies after 12 consecutive months without any card activity. There are no other fees. The card never expires.

Where can I check my The Detroit Card balance?

Accepted Answer

Simply enter your 16-digit card number above and click 'Check Balance'. You can find your card number on the front of your The Detroit Card or in the email you received or on your printed card.

Can I use the same The Detroit Card at multiple locations?

Accepted Answer

Yes! As long as there is a remaining balance, the card may be used at any participating The Detroit Card location. Your card works across all participating businesses until the balance is depleted.

Will my The Detroit Card work anywhere?

The card can only be used at participating The Detroit Card businesses. It cannot be used with third-party delivery services like Grubhub or DoorDash. Visit our business directory to see all participating locations - new businesses are being added regularly!

What do I do if my The Detroit Card is declined?

Accepted Answer

Your card may be declined if: (1) you entered incorrect card information, (2) you have insufficient balance, (3) you're trying to use it at a non-participating business, or (4) you're attempting to use it with a third-party delivery service. Please verify your card details and ensure you're shopping at a participating The Detroit Card location.

Will my payment automatically deduct from the card if I don't have enough to cover my entire balance?

No. If your purchase exceeds your card balance, you'll need to split the payment. The business will first charge your The Detroit Card for the available balance, then you'll pay the remaining amount with another payment method (credit card, cash, etc.).

How is the digital The Detroit Card redeemed?

Save your The Detroit Card to your Apple- or Google-Wallet and simply tap-to-pay. You can also use the Yiftee app (available at the Apple App Store) to store your Yiftee cards and access current card balances. If you do not use Apple- or Google-Pay, merchants can redeem your card by manually entering your 16-digit card code into their POS or terminal system, just like entering a credit card number. The card CANNOT be swiped - it must be keyed in manually. Show your card code (from email or printout) to the cashier at checkout.

Are physical cards an option?

No, there are no plastic cards available. Your The Detroit Card is digital-only and delivered via email. You can print it on paper if you prefer to have a physical copy to present at checkout.

Can refunds be provided to my The Detroit Card?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Just as refunds would be applied to your credit card, they can also be applied back to your The Detroit Card, increasing your available balance.

What if I lose my card or it gets stolen?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, lost or stolen cards cannot be replaced. Treat your The Detroit Card code like cash and keep it secure. We recommend saving the email/text with your card code in a safe place.
